Home Education Workshops

15th May, 11th September 2024  – Barbary macaques and their habitat

Join us for our workshop activity: to explore the adaptations Barbary macaques have to their environment, and discover seasons in our forest.

We will also learn all about monkey fur, and talk about the baby monkeys that are due.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned and discuss monkey behaviours and how they interact with their forest environment.

11th June,2nd October 2024  – Predators and food chains

Join us for our workshop activity: to find out about the predators of the Barbary macaque and find out what our monkeys have for breakfast.

We will also learn about food chains in the forest, as well as how our monkeys find food in their environment.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned; and discover how and what the monkeys eat.

10th July, 23rd October 2024 – Environment and Conservation

Join us for our workshop activity: and discover the many different species of primates. Get involved in our conservation activity, to find out the threats to wild Barbary macaques.

We will also learn how to look after wildlife in our area- by visiting some of the wild spaces on our site.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned; with our ‘what it means to be wild” activity.

SEN Workshops

15th May, 11th September,  2024  –  MOVE like a monkey

Join us for our workshop activity: where we encourage movement and exercise by leaning how monkeys move. We look at real monkey skeletons, and how they are similar to ours.

We will also learn all about monkey food, with our monkey breakfast activity.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned, and see how monkeys move, and find their way around the forest.

11th June, 2nd October 2024 – TALK like a monkey

Join us for our workshop activity: to find out how Barbary macaques communicate, by learning some of their language and sounds! We’ll then compare this to how people communicate in different ways by learning some simple sign language, and end with a story session. The best way to communicate over many generations.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned, to walk and watch monkeys- and see how they communicate.

10th July, 23rd October 2024  – LIVE like a monkey

Join us for our workshop activity: where do monkeys come from? We’ll look at seasons in the forest, and how the monkeys use the forest all year round.

We will also learn about the tress and birds that live here too- then head to our wild space area, and use the materials to build our own dens.

We then head into the forest to put into practice what we’ve learned; and discover all the different types of trees, leaves, bark and birds that we can see- and learn how the monkeys live with them.
