Welcome to the Magic Lantern; a curious contraption that travels the land with its crew of storytellers, musicians and
puppeteers – telling and collecting stories, lighting up woodlands, bringing laughter and creating magic wherever it goes.

Ian Douglas, the renowed raconteur of stories, has been plying his trade at festivals large and small for over twenty years, appearing with his beautiful pedal powered bow top caravan 'Vera', Ian has a head bursting with traditional tales perfect for you to hear in awe and wonder at Monkey Forest.

The Magic Lantern is a purpose-built storytelling and shadow puppetry space. This curious caravan was designed to allow performers to create work which is both honest and beautiful, whether inside the lantern or out amongst the audience. Its screens engage and immerse both audiences and participants in the world of story and shadow. It is as magical on the inside as it is on the out. 

Featuring Gary (Gacko) Bridgens and Dolly his peripatetic perambulator of performance, the renowned raconteur Storyteller, Ian Douglas, the explosive Professor Pumpernickel and his laboratory of lunacy, and Jo, the lady of our magnificent Magic Lantern. Expect magic, mayhem and plenty of audience participation throughout.
