    Investigating the Health of Golden-Headed Lion Tamarins in Brazil

    A new conservation project supported by Trentham Monkey Forest through the Primate Society of Great Britain is exploring how habitat loss and deforestation are affecting endangered golden-headed lion tamarin populations in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. The research will investigate the links between fragmented habitats, diet and health, while also working with local communities to support long-term primate conservation.

    Community Conservation in Action in Cameroon

    In November 2024, Trentham Monkey Forest supported a conservation project through the Primate Society of Great Britain focused on engaging local communities in protecting endangered primates in Tofala Hill Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Supporting Community-Led Lemur Conservation in Madagascar

    13th May 2026

    A new conservation project supported by Trentham Monkey Forest through the Primate Society of Great Britain is exploring the relationship between local communities and endangered lemurs in northwest Madagascar. The research will work with communities around Namoroka National Park to better understand traditional beliefs, local knowledge and how culture can support long-term conservation.

    Field Research - Patryk Kulikowski & Matt Gardiner PHD

    In 2024, students from Liverpool John Moores University - Matthew Gardiner PHD, and Patryk Kulikowski  - went into the field to conduct fascinating studies on Barbary macaques in the heart of their native land in Morocco. While helping to collect data in Azrou, Morocco, Patryk documented his experience with the macaques and has since written the below diary of his time spent there.
