Maintenance Assistant - Seasonal, including Weekends and School Holidays

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Trentham Monkey Forest for a Maintenance Assistant. Helping the Maintenance Lead to provide a great experience for visitors, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and practical individual.

  • The successful candidate will have a full driving license, a good level of fitness (for some of the more physically demanding tasks), and a positive outlook.
  • Great teamwork, good interpersonal skills, and flexibility are vital to the smooth running of the park.
  • Duties will include maintenance of the grounds, including toilets, the monkey enclosure, and buildings.
  • Daily and Monthly checks of play equipment, vehicles, and fencing.
  • Experience in maintenance/practical work advantage but not essential.

Requirements & Responsibilites

1. Assist Maintenance Leads with maintaining the monkey enclosure, forest, buildings, and all other areas of the park.

2. Ensure safety/cleanliness inspections of play equipment, toilets, fencing, vehicles etc. Logbooks kept up to date and accurate. All faults reported.

3. Work to a maintenance schedule with workload prioritised as directed.

4. Safe use of tools and equipment (following training) of Tractor, ATV, Strimmer, Mower etc. Equipment maintained as per schedule, checks and safety measures logged.

5. Comply with the staff handbook conditions, COSHH information, all correct PPE maintained and worn.

6. Ensure the workshop is kept orderly, tidy with tools maintained and in place.

7. Proactively reporting issues and identifying maintenance tasks.

8. Communicate effectively with Maintenance Leads and wider team.

9. Assist Maintenance Leads with all waste management on site.

10. Janitorial duties when open to visitors to include toilet checks, mopping as and when required.

11. Good customer service given to all visitors.

12. Liaising and assisting other managers with maintenance tasks in the forest, café, shop and kiosks.

13. Liaising with management, providing reports as required.

All positions are seasonal, up until the start of November 2026. You will need to be available to work weekends, school holidays, and bank holidays.

Pay range: from £9.50 to £12.80 per hour.
