Discover Workshop Educator (Part Time)

Job description

Trentham Monkey Forest is unique to the UK, with 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques living within a 60-acre forest in Staffordshire.
An opportunity has arisen for a confident, friendly, customer-focused person to join our exceptional team of Education Guides as a ‘Workshop Educator’.

Experience of public speaking is necessary as this will be required on a daily basis; both talking to visitors and delivering speeches and activities. Background knowledge of animals/animal behaviour is preferred, but full training will be given.

As a Discovery Workshop Educator you will be responsible for the delivery of hands-on and interactive activities aimed at our younger visitors, to help them make the most of their visit, further their knowledge; and deliver our conservation message.

The ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment both within a team, and independently is essential. Customer service and a professional demeanour is paramount, as is the ability to enthuse and engage children of all ages to participate in activities relating to the Barbary macaques.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the delivery of school trip visits- leading school groups of all ages, following links to the national curriculum. So, availability will be required during term time to facilitate this when necessary.

Enthusiasm for conservation education is paramount. Candidates must be available to work school holidays, bank holidays and weekends. With some weekday work in term time also available.

What are the benefits of working at Monkey Forest?

•    Work on a beautiful Estate in a fun leisure environment
•    Free entry to the park whilst part of the team
•    2 free tickets each month to share with family and friends

All positions are seasonal up until the start of November. You will need to be available to work weekends, school holidays, and bank holidays.
