These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) together with our Privacy Policy explain the legal terms on which Trentham Monkey Forest (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides admission tickets, vouchers, memberships, experiences, products and special events (“Services”) purchased through our website www.monkey-forest.com (“Site”).
By completing a purchase on our Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Please read them carefully and retain a copy for future reference.
These Terms are in English only.

1. Formation of Contract
1.1 Our online checkout allows you to review and amend your order before confirming it.
1.2 When you submit an order, you make an offer to purchase the Services displayed in your basket.
1.3 A contract is formed when payment is taken and you receive an email confirming your order (“Confirmation Email”).
1.4 Your Confirmation Email contains your barcoded e-ticket(s). This must be presented on arrival.
2. Cancellation
2.1 No statutory right to cancel
In accordance with Regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, tickets, experiences and dated admissions are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right, as they relate to leisure services provided on a specific date.
2.2 No cancellations permitted
Once an order has been placed, tickets, memberships, vouchers and experiences are non-refundable and non-cancellable, except where required by law or in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.
3. Tickets
3.1 Tickets permit one entry to Trentham Monkey Forest during normal opening hours for the date selected at checkout. Tickets are not fast-tracked; normal queues apply.
3.2 Prices shown online apply to online purchases only and may differ from on-the-day prices.
3.3 Ticket definitions
• Adult: 15+
• Child: 3–14
• Under 3: free
• Senior: 65+
• Student: valid ID required
• Carer: supporting a disabled visitor
• Group: 20+ paying visitors
• Disabled Visitor: as defined by the Equality Act 2010
• Educational Establishments: primary/secondary schools etc.
3.4 Goodwill date-change policy
Tickets are tied to the date selected at purchase.
However, as a discretionary goodwill policy, we allow customers to transfer their ticket to another date within the same season, provided:
• the ticket type matches the date visited (e.g. standard ticket cannot be used on a higher-priced Bank Holiday), and
• the transfer is within our opening season.
A surcharge may apply if changing to a higher-priced date.
3.5 Gift tickets and general vouchers are valid for one visit within 12 months.
3.6 Disabled visitors must provide suitable proof (Blue Badge, DWP letter etc.) to receive the disabled rate.
3.7 E-tickets may be printed or shown on a mobile device.
3.8 Tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and not for resale. Altered or defaced tickets are void.3.9 We do not offer refunds for adverse weather or other circumstances outside our control unless we fully close the attraction.
4. Promotions and Offers
4.1 Third-party promotions are subject to the third-party’s Terms.
4.2 Many promotions can only be redeemed at the onsite kiosk.
4.3 We accept no liability for third-party promotion disputes.
4.4 We may reject any voucher/discount code at our discretion.
5. Opening Times and Availability
5.1 Opening times vary seasonally and are published at monkey-forest.com/opening-times.
5.2 We may close the attraction for reasons beyond our control, including animal welfare or weather.
6. Parking and Admission
6.1 Free parking is provided by Trentham Estate at visitors' own risk.
6.2 Visitors must hold a valid ticket or membership and present it upon request.
6.3 Last entry is one hour before closing.
6.4 Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a supervising adult (15+).
6.5 Due to the nature of the attraction, no dogs or pets are permitted, including assistance dogs. The latter can be kept in the supervised MF office by staff at owner’s risk. We are not liable for the welfare of the assistance animal.
6.6 We may refuse or revoke entry at our discretion.
6.7 Security searches may be carried out.
6.8 Same-day re-entry requires a valid hand stamp.
7. Gift Tickets
7.1 Gift tickets are valid for two calendar years from purchase.
7.2 Not exchangeable for cash and not for resale.
7.3 The Confirmation Email serves as the voucher; it must be shown on arrival.
7.4 One barcode covers all vouchers within the same order and can only be used once.
8. Memberships
8.1 Memberships provide unlimited standard admission for 12 months from first visit. Members are only permitted entry during our seasonal opening times.
8.2 We may vary membership benefits; prices must be paid upfront.
8.3 Membership definitions (Adult, Child, Disabled, Carer, Concession) as provided.
8.4 Confirmation Email must be presented at first visit to issue a membership card.
8.5 Cards are non-transferable; replacements cost £5.
8.6 Memberships do not include separately ticketed special events.
8.7 We may refuse membership applications or renewals.
8.8 Disabled memberships require proof.
8.9 Memberships are non-refundable and not for resale.
9. Experiences
9.1 By purchasing any Experience advertised on our Site, including Morning with Monkeys and Winter Walks With Monkeys, you agree to the terms set out in this clause.
9.2 Experience contents and prices are as advertised on our Site. We reserve the right to alter or reduce the programme or benefits at any time. Payment must be made in advance at the time of booking.
9.3 Morning with Monkeys Experience:
• Visitors are responsible for choosing the correct date upon booking.
• Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. Ages 8+ may take part.
• Experiences are limited to 2 people per day.
• Arrival at 8:40am is required; late arrivals may be refused entry without refund.
• Experience is non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable, except where required by law or in exceptional circumstances.
9.4 Winter Walks With Monkeys Private Tour Experience:
• This is a winter-season VIP experience with exclusive access to the Monkey Forest outside normal opening times.
• Maximum of 10 participants per tour.
• Ages 14+ only; under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
• Participants will walk through 60 acres of woodland to observe 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques with expert guidance.
• The experience is non-refundable and dates cannot be changed once booked.
• Feeding the monkeys is not included.
9.5 We may reschedule, cancel or alter Experiences due to animal welfare, weather, staff availability, health and safety, or other events outside our control. Where rescheduled, we will endeavour to offer a similar programme, but cannot be held responsible for travel, accommodation, or related costs.
9.6 Experience descriptions, duration, or content are approximate and may vary depending on conditions on the day.
9.7 Experiences purchased are not for resale.
10. Photography
10.1 We (and authorised third parties) may take photos/videos that include visitors. By entering, you consent to their use for promotional purposes.
10.2 Visitor photography is for personal use only; commercial or broadcast recording requires prior written consent.
10.3 Personal images may be shared on social media for private use.
11. Prices and Payment
11.1 Prices may change but confirmed orders will not be affected unless due to error.
11.2 Prices include VAT where applicable.
11.3 If a pricing error occurs:
• lower price will be charged if displayed in error,
• if the true price is higher, we will contact you before completing the order.
11.4 Payment must be made at the time of order using Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard or Maestro.
12. Our Right to Vary These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect operational changes, legal requirements or payment updates. The Terms in force at the time of purchase apply to your order.
13. Data Protection
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Liability
14.1 We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach or negligence.
14.2 We are not liable for commercial losses.
14.3 For the following things, we accept full responsibility:
• death or personal injury caused by negligence
• fraud
• statutory rights under UK consumer law
• defective products under the Consumer Protection Act
• rights implied by the Supply of Goods and Services Act
15. Events Outside Our Control
If an event beyond our control affects our ability to perform our obligations, performance is suspended during that period. We will notify affected customers as soon as reasonably possible.
16. Baby Monkey Adoptions
16.1 By purchasing a Baby Monkey Adoption Pack (“Adoption Pack”) through our Site or onsite, you make a voluntary donation that supports the care, conservation and research of Barbary macaques and other monkeys through the PSGB (Primate Society of Great Britain). Adoption Packs do not grant ownership or individual rights over any monkey.
16.2 Each Adoption Pack includes the items listed at the point of purchase, which may include: two-day tickets, a legacy leaf for our Conservation Tree, merchandise items (such as a soft toy, keyring, postcard, lanyard) and a thank-you letter. Contents may vary.
16.3 The two-day tickets included follow the same rules as gift tickets and general entry terms.
16.4 Adoption Packs and the associated donation are strictly non-refundable and non-returnable except where legally required or in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.
16.5 Adoption Packs are not transferable and must not be resold.
17. Education Visits and Group Bookings
17.1 We welcome school, college, university and other educational visits, as well as organised group bookings.
17.2 Educational or group bookings must be made in advance. The organiser is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all information provided, including group size, participant ages, and any accessibility or additional needs.
17.3 All group members are subject to our standard entry conditions. It is the organiser’s responsibility to always ensure adequate supervision of children.
17.4 Group rates, educational discounts or bespoke packages may apply, as advertised or agreed at the time of booking. These are discretionary and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
17.5 Educational and group bookings are non-refundable. Date changes may be permitted at our discretion, subject to availability and any applicable price differences.
17.6 Organisers are encouraged to review our accessibility information and visitor guidelines in advance. Additional guidance can be requested from our team.
18. Accessibility
18.1 We aim to make Trentham Monkey Forest as accessible as reasonably possible for all visitors. Information about accessibility, terrain, facilities and support is available on our website.
18.2 Free parking is available, including a limited number of disabled bays located close to the entrance. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
18.3 The forest walk is approximately three-quarters of a mile in length. Most paths are accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters; however, due to natural terrain and occasional steep sections, certain areas may be more challenging. Visitors should assess suitability upon arrival.
18.4 The Banana Café, Jungle Shop, gates and main visitor facilities are accessible. Combined disabled/baby-changing toilet facilities are available. Visitors requiring additional support should speak to a member of staff.
18.5 Disabled visitors may bring one carer free of charge when the disabled rate is paid. Additional carers must pay the standard or concession rate unless agreed otherwise.
18.6 We recognise the sunflower lanyard scheme for visitors with hidden disabilities.
18.7 Due to the presence of free-roaming primates, dogs and pets including assistance dogs are not permitted inside the forest. Assistance dogs may be accommodated safely outside the forest area with prior arrangement.
18.8 Visitors with specific access, sensory or mobility needs are encouraged to contact us in advance so we can provide guidance on suitability, terrain and any reasonable adjustments that may be available.
