Educator – Discovery Workshop

Job Description:

Trentham Monkey Forest is unique to the UK, with 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques living within a 60-acre forest. An opportunity has arisen for a confident, friendly, customer focused person to join our exceptional team of guides as a ‘Workshop Educator’.

Experience in public speaking is necessary as this will be required on a daily basis; both talking to visitors and delivering speeches and activities. Background knowledge of animals/animal behaviour is preferred, but full training will be given.

As a Discovery Workshop Educator you will be responsible for the delivery of hands-on and interactive activities aimed at our younger visitors, to help them make the most of their visit, further their knowledge; and deliver our conservation message.

The ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment both within a team, and independently is essential. Customer service and a professional demeanour is paramount, as is the ability to enthuse and engage children of all ages to participate in activities relating to the Barbary macaques.
All training will be given in house.

Enthusiasm for conservation education is paramount. Candidates must be:

  • available to work school holidays
  • bank holidays and weekends
  • This position is seasonal, and will run until the end of October 2021.
  • Part time hours will be 10-14 hours at weekends and bank holidays, increasing to 30-36 hours during school holidays.
